Box Score MCKENZIE,
Tenn. - Trevecca (19-8, 1-0 TranSouth), receiving votes in the
preseason NAIA Top 25, came from behind to defeat Bethel University
(17-2-1, 0-1 TranSouth) 9-5 in the first TranSouth conference game of
the year.
Trevecca
starting pitcher Tim Dunn, the reigning TranSouth Player of the Year
and NAIA First Team All-American, left the game after 1.2 innings
pitched with an injury. Caleb Longshore relieved Dunn and
pitched 3.2 innings before giving way to B.J. Boston (1-0), who picked
up the win. Boston pitched a perfect 3.2 innings with two strike outs.
Jon Patterson (3-1) took the loss, his first of the year. ÂÂ
Bethel
struck first with four runs in the bottom of the fifth. Trevecca tied
the game with four in the sixth, but the wildcats regained the lead
with a run in their half of the sixth. Trevecca regained the lead for
good with three runs in the seventh and added two more in the ninth.
Trevecca had 14 hits and three errors. Bethel had seven hits and an
error.
Brad Gooch was 3-4 with two runs scored and two stolen
bases. Chris Hale was 3-3 with four RBI and a double. Edwin Borbon was
2-5 with a stolen base and a run scored. Matt Tidwell turned in a 2-4
performance with two runs scored and a stolen base.

The teams will play a double-header starting at Noon on Saturday.

Trevecca will host Bryan College (12-17) on Tuesday, March 30 at 2 p.m.
