Box Score PULASKI, Tenn. - NAIA No. 23 Trevecca (21-9, 11-5 TranSouth) wraped up the regular season with a 92-79 win at Martin Methodist (18-12, 6-10) on Saturday. The Trojans hit 12 3-pointers in the first half and a school record 16 3-pointers for the game. Four different Trevecca teams have made 15 3-pointers in a game.
Midway through the first half the RedHawks held a 23-18 lead over the Trojans. Trevecca used a 16-0 run as part of a 27-5 run that gave Trevecca a 17-point (45-28) lead. TNU led 51-41 at the break. Trevecca held a 10-point lead for most of the second half, but on a couple of occassions Martin Methodist cut the lead to within a basket. The final push from the RedHawks came when they cut the Trojan lead to just three points at 78-75. Trevecca used 14-5 run to close the half and hold off the RedHawks.
Matthew Elliott scored 17 points in the first half, including five 3-poiners. He ended the game with 19 points and 10 assists. The lone senior also collected three rebounds and a steal.
Michael France was the leading scorer with 26 points after hitting six 3-pointers in nine attempts. Also scoring in double figures were
Jeremy Dixon (19),
Keith Morris (13), and
Marquise Rudolph (10). Morris led the team with seven rebounds while Rudolph had six. Rudolph also had four assists, a block, and two steals. Chris Goodwin had a team-high 18 for the RedHawks. Will Shackelford had 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Trevecca shot 55% (30-54) from the field, 59% (16-27) from 3-point range, and 80% (16-20) from the foul line. ÂÂ
The win earns the Trojans the #4 seed in the TranSouth Tournament and a home game on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Trevecca will host Cumberland University, the tournaments #5 seed, in the TranSouth Tournament Quarter Final on Thursday, March 4 at 7 p.m.
