Tenn. - The Trevecca Trojans (20-8, 10-4 TranSouth), #RV in this week's
NAIA men's Division I basketball poll, defeated Fisk (1-20) 91-71 on
Saturday. The Trojans now hold a 10-3 advantage in the series.
The
visiting Bulldogs held a 10-7 lead with 14:39 remaining in the first
half, but the Trojans rolled off a 9-2 run to take a 16-12 lead. With a
18-15 at the 11:57 mark Trevecca pulled off a game-changing run.
Trevecca used a 22-9 run to push their lead (40-24) to double-figures.
The Trojan lead would not dip below the double-figure mark the
remainder of the game. Trevecca held a 12-point (45-33) lead at
intermission.
As
the second have started each team scored a basket. Trevecca used a 9-0
run to push their lead to 21 points (56-35) with 17:06 to go in the
game. The Trojans used a 10-0 run to take a 27-point lead (70-43) with
11:52 to go. Trevecca would settle for a 91-71 victory.
Trevecca
had five players score in double figures. Michael France led the way
with 17 points. He was joined by Matthew Elliott (15), Keith Morris
(14), Marquise Rudolph (14), and JP Nydaro (12). Nydaro led the team
with eight rebounds. Pascal Permis and Morris grabbed seven rebounds
apiece. France added six rebounds, five assists, a steal, and a block.
Elliott also added a team-high seven assists and three steals while
grabbing six rebounds.
Fisk guard Aaron Hamilton had a game-high 31 points. Kris Waddy had a game-high 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs.
As
a team the Trojans hit 51% (32-63) from the field, 33% (7-21) from
3-point range, and 77% (20-26) from the foul line. Trevecca had a 52-36
edge in rebounding.
The
team's final home game will be Thursday at 8 p.m. when #10 Union
University (22-7, 13-2 TranSouth) will visit on Senior Night. The
Trojans will honor their lone senior,
Matthew Elliott, during the
evening. In a special promotion, the Nashville Predators will be on
hand with players and Gnash making an appearance during the games.
