Trevecca Downs Fisk at Moore Gym

Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca men's basketball team (5-4) won their final home game of 2010, knocking off crosstown rival Fisk University (3-13) 86-63 Saturday afternoon at Moore Gym. Trevecca has defeated Fisk six consecutive times and now own an 11-3 advantage in the all-times series.

The Bulldogs scored the game's first four points, before the Trojans went on a 8-0 run, taking their first lead on a bucket by Milos Macura with 15:44 left in the first half. Trevecca pulled away from there, taking an 11-point lead at 27-16 on a 3-pointer by Marquise Rudolph with 6:17 to play in the half. But Fisk answered the challenge, finishing the half on a 16-4 run to take a 32-31 lead to the locker room. Fisk shot 52 percent in the half, compared to just 39 percent for the Trojans, and the Bulldogs had a 19-16 edge on the boards.

Trevecca regained the lead early in the second half, going ahead 40-38 on a Blake Carden basket with 15:20 left to play. Carden's bucket came in the midst of a 9-0 Trojan run that pushed the lead back to seven at 45-38. The Bulldogs continued to hang around, and were still within seven at 52-45 with 8:21 remaining, but Trevecca blew the game open from there, going on a 24-8 run over the next 5:53 on the way to the victory.

The Trojans shot 47 percent from the field, including 43 percent (6-14) from 3-point range, and made 71 percent (12-17) of their free throws. Fisk ended up shooting 45 percent, which included 29 percent (4-14) from 3-point range. The Bulldogs knocked down just 45 percent (5-11) of their free throws.

Rudolph led the Trojans with 20 points, and added eight assists and seven rebounds. Michael France added 18 and Keith Morris chipped in 12. Devardo Williams led Fisk with 18 points, 19 rebounds, and eight blocks.

The Trojans are now off until the end of the month, when they travel to Rome, Ga. for a pair of games at
the Shorter University Christmas Classic. On Thursday (12/30), Trevecca will battle No. 21 Lee University (9-3) at 3 p.m. and on Friday (12/31), the Trojans will take on the host No. 12 Shorter Hawks (9-0) at 3 p.m.
