Box Score HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Trojan volleyball team (17-20), seeded sixth in the TranSouth Championships, dropped its opening match of the 2010 Championships to third-seeded Bethel on Monday morning. Trevecca bounced back in the late-evening elimination match sweeping seventh-seeded Lyon College.
In the morning match, the Wildcats (22-10) defeated Trevecca 3-1 (14-25, 25-21, 20-25, 25-27). The Trojans started slow with BU taking it to the Trojans 14-25. Trevecca reversed course with an impressive 25-21 win in the second set. The final two sets went the way of the Wildcats, but Trevecca forced extra points in the fourth set, nearly pushing the match to a fifth set.
Against Bethel,
Cassidy Watkins paced the attack with 16 kills, and added 11 digs, while
Brittany Eller and
Maddie Burford added 15 kills apiece, Burford's coming on an astonishing .519 attack percentage. Senior setter
Brooke Cannon had 42 assists, and added six digs and three block assists.
In defeating the Lyon Scots (10-28) 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-21) the Trojans produced a .235 attack percentage, the peak was the first set when the Trojans had a .286 attack percentage.
Brooke Cannon, a second team All-TranSouth honoree, led the team with 26 assists and added 11 digs.
Cassidy Watkins, a first team All-TranSouth selection, led the team with 10 kills and a .375 attack percentage while adding nine digs.
Haley White led the team with 14 digs while
Halley Wiggins (10) and
Shelby Sorce (10) also
reached double-figure dig totals.

Trevecca advances to Match 10 on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Trevecca will face the loser of Match eight between fifth-seeded Cumberland (23-11) and top-seeded Union (23-7).
