began their quest for a fourth-consecutive TranSouth Tournament
Championship on Wednesdayagainst the fifth-seeded Bethel College
(31-12) Wildcats, falling in the game 4-1.ÂÂ
Bethel
opened the scoring in the top of the first inning with a single run off
Trojans' starter Stephanie Fisher, then added an insurance marker in
the fourth to make it 2-0 Wildcats. Fisher yielded to Riley Mashburn in
the fifth, and the Wildcats plated two more runs to stretch their lead
to 4-0. In the seventh inning, the Trojans scored thanks to doubles
from Caitlyn Bailey and Lauren Baker, but Trevecca was only able to get
one run, falling to Bethel 4-1.

Fisher
(7-7) took the loss for Trevecca, tossing four innings and allowing two
earned runs on four hits while walking two and striking out one. Amber
Metzger (8-8) earned the win for the Wildcats. At the plate, the
Trojans were led by Bailey and Baker. Bailey was 1-for-3 with a double
(5) and a run scored; while Baker was 1-for-3 with a double (4) and an
RBI (10). Megan Hemmingsen was also 2-for-3 for the Trojans in the
game. Bethel scored their four runs on nine hits and made two errors,
while the Trojans scored one run on eight hits and did not commit an
error in the game.

Trevecca
will face elimination at 9 a.m. on Thursday, facing the loser of the
game between the Martin Methodist RedHawks (38-9) and the Cumberland
Bulldogs (6-31) in the first elimination game of the tournament.
