Tenn. - The Trevecca softball team (2-4, 2-0 TranSouth) took a pair of
TranSouth Conference games from Mid-Continent University (5-6, 0-2
TranSouth), 10-4 and
9-1. It was Trevecca's home opener. In
the two games Chelsea Bailey was a combined 5-6 at the plate with three
stolen bases, a home run, five runs scored and three RBI
In
game one, Trevecca jumped on top with a run in the first and second
inning. Then posted six runs on the board in the third to lead 8-0. The
Cougars scored four in the top of the fourth. Trevecca finished the
scoring with a run in their half of the fourth and another in the
sixth. Trevecca scored 10 runs on 10 hits and committed two errors.
Mid-Continent scored their four runs on six hits and committed five
errors. Senior Stephanie Fisher (1-1) got the win with 6.1 innings of
work. She allowed two hits and two walks while striking out six. Riley
Mashburn pitched 0.2 innings and allowed two earned runs on four hits
and a walk. She struck out one. Megan Hemmingsen was 1-4 at the plate
with a run socred and two RBI. Chelsea Bailey was 2-3 with a stolen
base, two runs scored. Megan Suggs was 2-3 with a double, two runs
scored and an RBI. Amanda Duke (1-3) took the loss for Mid-Continent
In
game two, freshman Lauren Baker (1-1) got the win with the complete
game victory. She pitched all five innings and allowed just one run in
the third inning. Baker allowed three hits and struck out 12. The
Trojans scored a run in the first, two in the second, six in the
fourth. The nine Trojan runs were scored on 10 hits and the team didn't
commit an error. The Cougars scored their run on three hits and had two
errors. Chelsea Bailey was 3-3 at the plate with two stolen bases, a
home run, three runs scored and three RBI. Karli Rush was 2-3 with a
stolen base, a run and an RBI. Cassady Critchfield was 1-3 with a home
run, two RBI and a run scored. Trevecca had seven different players
gather a hit in the game. Victoria Spinor (2-2) took the loss on the
mound for the Cougars.
Trevecca is hosting Union University (4-4) on Wednesday at 4 p.m. On
Thursday Trevecca will host Tennessee Wesleyan (4-4) at 3 p.m.
