NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca (10-12, 4-5 TranSouth) returned
to action at home for a TranSouth game against No. 6 Union University (19-4,
9-1) on Thursday, dropping their third straight game, this time 81-78. All
three losses have been to ranked opponents. Trevecca's Brian Oduor surpassed
the 1,500 career scoring mark with 17 points on the night.
Trevecca came out of the gates firing on all cylinders as
Michael France hit back-to-back three pointers to give the Trojans the early
lead. The Trojans would eventually stretch their lead to as many as six points
at 24-18 with 9:08 left in the half, but Union
came roaring back. The Bulldogs closed the half on a 28-18 run, and at the
break, Union led 46-42. In the second half, Union quickly stretched their lead to 11 at 55-44, but
the Trojans responded with an 18-0 run to take a 62-55 lead with 14:33
remaining. The teams continued to battle closely with Trevecca leading most of
the way until Union reclaimed the lead for
good (74-72) with 3:36 left. Down the stretch, Union
continued to hold a slim lead, and at the buzzer, Matthew Elliott's
three-pointer bounced around and out, giving the Bulldogs the 81-78 win.
Elliott led the Trojans with 26 points, and he was joined in
double figures by Brian Oduor (17) and France (12). Oduor grabbed a team high
13 boards, and De'Jon Everson dished out eight assists in the game.
Greg Truvillion led Union
with 23 points and 15 rebounds. Matt Neaville (22), Brian Lake
(16), and Antoine Joseph (10) also scored in double figures.
As a team, Trevecca shot 31-of-61 (50.8%) from the floor,
7-of-16 (43.8%) from long distance, and 9-of-14 (64.3%) from the foul line.
The Trojans hit the road this weekend, heading to Lyon College
(7-14, 1-10 TranSouth) for a game on Saturday at 4:00.
