Hold Off Toppers, Host Cumberland Saturday

Box Score BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. - #RV Trevecca (10-9, 4-2 TranSouth) traveled to Blue Mountain (Miss.) College (1-18, 0-6) and despite trailing early, came away with a 110-99 victory. Trevecca senior Brian Oduor moved into eighth place on the Trojan career scoring list with 25 points.

Blue Mountain came out on fire and led by nine (17-8) before the Trojans rallied to take their first lead (20-19) with a 12-1 run. The Toppers answered with a 12-2 run and led 33-24 with 8:27 to play in the half. With 7:59 to go in the half BMC led 36-28. TNU finished the half with a 17-9 run to lead 55-45. With the late first half run it looked like the Trojans might pull away, but the Toppers worked the deficit down slowly in the second half and gained the lead 69-67 with 12:34 to play. The Trojans went on an 11-0 run to take a 78-69 lead with 10:48 to play. With 4:04 to go Blue Mountain cut the Trojan lead to just five points at 96-91, but the Trojans were able to secure the 110-99 win. Blue Mountain hit 12-of-42 from three-point range to remain close.

With is team-high 25 points, Oduor moved into eighth place on the Trevecca career scoring list just ahead of Dan Delfendahl. Up next is Roosevelt Burrell, who scored 1,484 career points. Tulio Yamasita (19), De'Jon Everson (16), Christopher Harris (16), and Matthew Smigielski (10) also scored in double figures. Oduor also had a team high 11 rebounds to complete another double-double. Yamasita also grabbed eight boards. Everson added a team-high five steals. As a team Trevecca shot 36-of-69 (52%) from the field, 4-of-14 (28%) from three-point range, and 34-of-46 (74%) from the foul line. Trevecca had a season high 50 rebounds.

The final game of the team's stretch of four games in eight days is back at Moore Gym with No. 7 Cumberland University (16-2, 6-1) visiting on Saturday (Jan. 24) at 4 p.m.
