Trevecca
hit their first eight field goals of the game on their way to shooting
74% from the floor for the half, but Trevecca was unable to pull away
from Martin Methodist. Trevecc anever led by more than eight in the
half, though they never trailed by more than two, and at the break,
Trevecca led 45-37.

The
RedHawks came out strong in the second half, taking advantage of some
Trojan miscues and slowly whittling away at the Trevecca lead. with
7:52 to play in regulation time, Martin Methodist took a one point
lead, 64-63, and the Trojans would not lead for the remainder of
regulation time. With just 10.1 seconds, Martin's Mark Mangum went to
the line with a chance to make it a four point game, but Mangum missed
the first of his two foul shots, and Trevecca's Brian Oduor tied the
game with a three-pointer from the top of the key with .4seconds left.
A desperation heave came up short for the RedHawks, and the game went
to overtime tied at 73-73.

The
overtime session was all Trojans, as Trevecca scored the period's first
seven points, taking the 80-73 lead. After Mangum cut the Trojans lead
to four, Trevecca stretched it back out to six when Jeremy Dixon
followed a missed jumper from De'Jon Everson with a thunderous dunk to
put Trevecca back up six, and from there the Trojans sealed the win,
upending Martin Methodist 86-78.

Oduor
led the Trojans with 29 points and eight rebounds, Matthew Elliott
added 15 points, and Dixon and Christopher Harris each scored 10 as
well. Elliott, Everson, and Harris each dished out five assists, and
Oduor swatted three Martin Methodist shots in the game.

As
a team, Trevecca shot 35-of-57 (61.4%) from the field, 7-of-13 (53.8%)
from beyond the arc, and 9-of-14 (63.6%) from the free throw line.
Trevecca players also distributed 22 assists in the contest.

Saturday's game is the
first in a series of four games in eight days for the Trojans. The
Trojans will hit the road for a 8 p.m. game on Monday versus
Mid-Continent (5-9,
2-2) at the Mayfield (Ky.) Sports Arena. They will stay on the road
Thursday versus Blue Mountain
(Miss.) College (1-14, 0-3) at 8 p.m. The final game in the stretch is
back at Moore Gym with No. 11 Cumberland University
(13-2, 4-1) visiting on Saturday (Jan. 24) at 4 p.m.
