SPRINGFIElD, Ill. - #RV Trevecca (1-1) fell 77-67 at No. 23
University of Illinois Springfield (3-0) on Saturday.
After 13 lead changes, the Prairie Stars executed from the free throw line to take a 77-67
non-conference victory over Trevecca.
Trevecca led by as many as six points in the first four minutes before
UIS tied the game at the 16:16 minute mark. The two teams exchanged
buckets and the lead over the next eight minutes until Trevecca slipped
out to a seven point lead with 7:29 remaining in the period. That lead
increased to nine points with 5:41 remaining before the Prairie Stars
rallied to take a 44-43 edge going into halftime.
The first twelve minutes of the second half saw the Trojans rebuild the
lead to seven points before UIS was able to generate enough scoring to
take a
60-59 lead with 8:56 remaining in the game. From that point, the game
went in favor of the Prairie Stars.
Brian Oduor, of Trevecca, led all scorers with 23 points. Oduor added
eight rebounds and two assists, while hitting 10-of-16 from the field.
Jeremy
Dixon (11) and De'Jon Everson (10) also scored in double figures.
Matthew Elliott led the team with eight assists.
Trevecca hit 28-of-55 (51%) from the field, 7-of-21 (33%) from beyond the arch, and 4-of-7 from the
foul line. UIS was 21-of-24 (87%) from the foul line.
The two teams met for the first time in men's
basketball last season, the Trojans won that game in Nashville 87-77.
Trevecca will host Knoxville College on Tuesday at 8
p.m.
