Trevecca Women's Golf | Vester Leads Trojans Through Opening Round at King Invitational

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Trevecca Nazarene University women's golf opened the King University Invitational on Monday in sixth place following a first-round 320 at the Country Club of Bristol.

The 36-hole event, hosted by King University, features 11 teams and 60 individuals competing on the par-71, 5,882-yard layout. The final 18 holes are scheduled for Tuesday.

Trevecca is sixth in the 11-team field, just two strokes behind fifth-place Young Harris (318), three behind fourth-place Shorter (317) and four behind third-place Barton (316). Belmont Abbey leads the tournament with a 312, followed by Converse (314).

Sophomore Kamryn Vester led the Trojans with a seven-over-par 78 and is tied for ninth entering the final round. Mattie Goad and Gracee Prince each shot 80 and are tied for 17th, giving Trevecca three players among the top 20. Audrey Reese is tied for 25th following an 82, putting four Trojans among the top 25.

Kaycee Ludick completed the Trevecca lineup with an 87 and is tied for 39th.

Vester's 78 matches her season low and continues a strong three-round stretch. After opening the season with an 84 at the City with Spirit Fall Classic, Vester has followed with rounds of 79, 78 and 78. Her last three rounds total 235 strokes for a 78.33 scoring average.

The 78 is also just two strokes off Vester's Trevecca career-low 76.

VESTER LEADS THE WAY

Vester made the turn at 42 before closing with a four-over-par 36 on the back nine.

Her closing nine included three birdies. Vester opened the back nine with a birdie three on the par-four 10th, added a two on the par-three 12th and followed with a three on the par-four 13th.

The 78 matches the final-round 78 she posted at the City With Spirit Fall Classic for her season low. Vester's Trevecca career bests are 76 for 18 holes, 156 for 36 holes and 238 for 54 holes.

Vester averaged 81.94 during her freshman season and recorded 20 birdies. She tied for seventh while competing as an individual at the LTU Invitational and was part of the Trevecca lineup that tied the program's 18-hole team record with a 307 at the 2026 Gulf South Conference Championships.


GOAD INSIDE THE TOP 20

Goad opened with a nine-over-par 80 and is tied for 17th.

The sophomore's 80 matches her opening round from the City With Spirit Fall Classic. Her season low is 78, recorded in the second round at Cleveland Country Club.

Goad owns the lowest career round among Trevecca's five golfers competing this week. Her one-under-par 71 in the opening round of the 2026 Gulf South Conference Championships is tied for the third-lowest individual round in program history.

She followed the 71 with a 76 for a career-low 147 through 36 holes before finishing tied for 10th at the GSC Championships with a career-low 228.

Goad finished her freshman season with a 79.27 scoring average and 37 birdies.


PRINCE CONTINUES STRONG START

Prince joins Goad in a tie for 17th following an opening-round 80.

Prince led Trevecca in her Trojan debut at the City With Spirit Fall Classic, finishing tied for 21st with an 11-over-par 227 (75-78-74).

Her final-round 74 at Cleveland Country Club remains Trevecca's low individual round of the season. Prince recorded a team-high eight birdies during the tournament, including four during the final round.

Through her first four rounds as a Trojan, Prince has posted scores of 75, 78, 74 and 80.


REESE POSTS SEASON LOW

Reese continued her early-season improvement with an 82 and is tied for 25th.

The 82 is Reese's best round of the season by three strokes. She opened the year with rounds of 87, 85 and 86 at the City With Spirit Fall Classic.

Reese's Trevecca career low remains 77, with career bests of 157 for 36 holes and 243 for 54 holes.


LUDICK MAKES TREVECCA DEBUT

Ludick opened with an 87 and is tied for 39th.

Monday's round establishes Ludick's first official Trevecca career and season scoring mark.


TROJAN TEAM NOTES

Trevecca's 320 is the team's second-best score through four rounds this season.

The Trojans have produced a tight scoring range to begin the season. Trevecca's four rounds are 318, 317, 321 and 320, leaving only four strokes between its lowest and highest team scores.

Trevecca is averaging 319.00 strokes per round through the first four rounds. That is nearly identical to the 318.52 average the Trojans produced over 25 rounds during the 2025-26 season.

The 2025-26 Trojans recorded 164 birdies and 1,130 pars.

Trevecca is also within striking distance of several teams entering Tuesday. The Trojans are two strokes behind Young Harris for fifth, three behind Shorter for fourth and four behind Barton for third.

Only 10 strokes separate first-place Belmont Abbey (312) and seventh-place North Greenville (322).

Goad's one-under-par 71 at the 2026 Gulf South Conference Championships remains the lowest career round among the five players in Trevecca's King Invitational lineup.


HISTORICAL CONTEXT

Trevecca is coming off a 2025-26 season in which the Trojans established or matched several significant program scoring marks.

The Trojans established the program's 54-hole record with a 937 at the Music City Classic after initially setting the record with a 938 at St. Simons.

Trevecca's opening-round 307 at the Gulf South Conference Championships tied the program 18-hole record, while its 624 through the opening two rounds ranked second in program history.

Individually, Goad's one-under-par 71 and 228 at the GSC Championships both earned places among Trevecca's top historical scoring performances.

Monday's 320 leaves the Trojans in position to move up the leaderboard Tuesday, with only four strokes separating Trevecca from third place.
