NASHVILLE – Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer claims three Gulf South Conference major awards, with Chris Douglas named Offensive Player of the Year, Hunter Walker Defensive Player of the Year and Danny Leavy Coach of the Year.

The conference's head coaches also select four Trojans to the All-GSC First Team and two to the Second Team. The honors recognize a team that won the program's first conference championship, earned the GSC tournament's No. 1 seed and reaches the semifinals for the first time.

Trevecca is 13-1-2 after Saturday's 3-1 quarterfinal win over Mississippi Christian. The Trojans face Lee at 3 p.m. CT Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Loretta P. Spencer Sports Complex in Huntsville, Ala.

CHRIS DOUGLAS | OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Douglas supplies the finishing behind Trevecca's championship run. The junior from St. Johns, Antigua, has 18 goals, five assists and 41 points in 14 appearances, with six game-winning goals. He scored twice in the quarterfinal, including the winner, to extend his NCAA-era school records for season goals, season points and career goals.

His second goal Saturday brought his Trevecca career totals to 29 goals and 67 points, matching Jeremiah Wright's NCAA-era career points record from 2013-16 and tying Wright for third all-time. One more point gives Douglas the NCAA-era record outright. He broke Jonathan Baskin's 10-goal NCAA-era season standard and Wright's 25-point season mark during his Oct. 14 hat trick against Spring Hill.

Douglas entered the GSC tournament as Division II's leader in goals per game (1.23) and points per game (2.85). His season includes hat tricks at Freed-Hardeman and against Spring Hill, two goals and an assist at then-No. 10 AUM, and the winner in the title-clinching victory over West Alabama. He earned GSC Offensive Player of the Week honors Oct. 20 and Oct. 27, the D2CIDA National Player of the Week award Oct. 20 and four Tennessee Sports Writers Association weekly selections.

Saturday's brace was his sixth multi-goal game this season. He has eight goals and an assist for 17 points over the last four matches, scoring in each. He now leads the country in goals and points per game and total goals.

HUNTER WALKER | DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Walker earns the league's Defensive Player of the Year award after anchoring a defense that allows fewer than one goal per match. The sophomore goalkeeper from Franklin, Tenn., played all 1,440 minutes through the quarterfinal, posting a 13-1-2 record, 0.94 goals-against average, .810 save percentage, 64 saves and seven solo shutouts.

His 13 victories extend Trevecca's all-time season goalkeeper record. Seven solo shutouts match Joe Shrum's all-time season mark from 2002, while Walker's 12 career shutouts lead the program's historical record book. His 19 career wins move him into sole third in the NCAA era, past Adan Gonzalez's 18. One more credited win matches Braydon Brown's 20 for second.

Walker recorded three consecutive clean sheets against Union, Spring Hill and AUM during a 407:36 scoreless stretch in October. He made a career-high 10 saves and assisted a Douglas goal in the Sept. 19 win over Mississippi Christian. Twice the GSC Goalkeeper of the Week this season, he earned the honor Sept. 8 and Oct. 20.

DANNY LEAVY | COACH OF THE YEAR

In his 18th season, Leavy guides Trevecca to its first men's soccer conference title and the university's first Gulf South championship in any sport. The Trojans finished the GSC regular season 7-1-2 with 23 points, sharing the title with AUM. A 3-0 road win over AUM supplied the head-to-head tiebreaker and the tournament's top seed.

The season follows a 6-8-3 overall finish in 2025. Trevecca now owns a program-record 13 victories, an eight-match winning streak and its first GSC tournament victory. The Trojans climbed to No. 7 nationally and No. 1 in the South Region in the Oct. 27 United Soccer Coaches polls. Leavy, the programs all-time leader in wins, is at 119 career wins.

HADEN BROWN | FIRST TEAM ALL-GSC

Haden Brown turns a freshman season into a first-team selection at defender. The Hillsboro High School product from Nashville leads Trevecca with nine assists, an NCAA-era season record, and adds one goal for 11 points. He finished the regular season atop the GSC in total assists and assists per game.

Brown scored the winner in the 1-0 victory at then-No. 19 Carson-Newman and supplied two assists against Spring Hill and two at AUM. Both AUM assists set up Douglas goals. He also helps protect a back line with seven clean sheets and only 15 goals allowed. Brown earned two GSC Defender of the Week awards and added Freshman of the Week during Trevecca's four-award sweep Oct. 20.

JACK FRANKLIN | FIRST TEAM ALL-GSC

Jack Franklin connects midfield creation with timely finishing. The senior from Donelson Christian Academy has three goals and three assists for nine points. He opened the quarterfinal scoring at 46:40 Saturday, finishing Zion Jones's pass to break a scoreless tie, and set a career high with four shots.

Franklin produced a career-high four points with a goal and two assists in the September win over Mississippi Christian. He then assisted Douglas's winner against West Alabama in the regular-season finale. His quarterfinal goal gives him goals against MCU in the GSC tournament in consecutive seasons; he also scored in the 2025 quarterfinal in Clinton.

DANIEL SHIEL | SECOND TEAM ALL-GSC

Daniel Shiel gives Trevecca a second scorer with eight goals and adds five assists for 21 points. The junior from Newcastle, Northern Ireland, has three game-winning goals, second on the team behind Douglas. Those winners came against Delta State, Union and AUM.

Shiel scored all three goals in the 3-1 win over Delta State for his first Trevecca hat trick. He supplied the only goal at Union and the opening goal in the 3-0 win at AUM, then added two assists in the Spring Hill victory. He completed the regular season with a GSC-leading .636 shot accuracy, putting 21 of 33 attempts on target.

JUDAH JONES | SECOND TEAM ALL-GSC

Judah Jones provides seven assists, second on the team and second in the GSC at the end of the regular season. The junior from Freetown, Sierra Leone, adds one goal for nine points. His seven assists matched Trevecca's previous NCAA-era season standard before Brown raised it to nine.

Jones assisted the decisive goals in the 1-0 road wins at Carson-Newman and Union, and had two assists in the 3-2 win over Thomas More. His goal at 25:40 against West Alabama opened the scoring in the 2-1 victory that clinched the regular-season title and No. 1 seed.

A CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON

The individual honors reflect production across both ends of the field. Trevecca has 40 goals and 44 assists for 124 points, with a 40-15 scoring advantage and a 26-5 edge after halftime. Its seven team shutouts match the NCAA-era season standard set in 2012. The Trojans are 5-0-2 on the road and have scored in every match this season.

The winning streak began Sept. 26 at Christian Brothers and reaches eight matches with the quarterfinal win. Trevecca outscored opponents 21-6 during that run. The program also set records for GSC regular-season wins and points while reaching a third consecutive conference tournament.
