NASHVILLE – For much of the afternoon at the Trojan Fieldhouse, a scrappy Auburn University Montgomery team stayed close with the Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball squad. The Warhawks held a lead late in the second stanza as they tried to split the first two sets, but Trevecca rallied to take the set, and that broke the Warhawks.
Trevecca (11-11, 8-4 GSC) fought off three set points in the second frame before they converted their third set point chance to take the set, and the Trojans cruised through the third set to sweep AUM (2-20, 0-11 GSC).
SERIES HISTORY
Trevecca has now won five of the six all-time meetings - all of which have come since the Trojans joined the GSC for the 2024-25 season. The win was the third straight sweep for Trevecca over AUM, and Trevecca has won 17 of 22 all-time sets in the series.
MATCH RECAP
AUM scored first in the match, but Trevecca took six of the next seven points to open a 6-1 lead. AUM kept the Trojans from spreading the margin, though, and as the set progressed toward the technical timeout, AUM closed the gap to a single point with a 6-1 run that made it 14-13. Trevecca, though, held the lead and out of the technical timeout, the Trojans inched their way out to a 20-15 lead. AUM fought to keep the set going, but the Trojans closed out the 25-20 win on a kill from Brynne Krangnes and a block from Emma Schnitzer and Katilyn Grant.
Trevecca took seven of the first 12 points in the second frame, but a quick 3-0 burst from AUM gave the Warhawks the lead. The lead changed hands five times in quick succession through the middle stages of the set, and with the score knotted at 15, AUM surged in front with a 4-0 run. The Warhawks held the lead into the late stages of the set, and they earned a set point chance at 24-21.
A service error from AUM, though, changed the entire tenor of the match.
Trevecca scored four straight points to earn their first set point opportunity, and on their third try, Trevecca took the set when a miscue from AUM gave the Trojans the set 28-26.
That momentum carried into the third stanza. Trevecca opened a 7-2 lead that featured two aces from Lilly Vanbebber, and after AUM closed to 7-4, Trevecca rattled off nine straight points that featured four kills from Jordan Hunt as the Trojans opened a 16-4 lead. From there, the Trojans put things away emphatically as they pushed their run to 18-2, and Zoie Elrod served three straight aces to end the set in a 25-6 win to complete the sweep.
TROJAN HIGHLIGHTS
? Katilyn Grant was the only Trojan to reach double figures in kills - she had 10 - but Jordan Hunt had eight, Kayla Bullard chipped in six, and Isabella Sherrod added five.
? Brynne Krangnes served up 23 assists in the match, and she added three kills and an ace as well.
? Sherrod led the Trojans with 15 digs, and Lilly Vanbebber dug up 14 AUM attacks in the match.

? Trevecca also had eight blocks as a team. Jordan Hunt had a team-high four blocks, a number she has reached in a single match seven times this season.
