Trevecca Men's Soccer | Trojans Flip Script, No. 20 in United Soccer Coaches NCAA D2 Top 25

NASHVILLE - Picked No. 8 in the 2026 Gulf South Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, the Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer team has played its way into the national Top 25. The Trojans debuted at No. 20 in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II poll released Tuesday, Oct. 13, earning the program's first national coaches' poll ranking in the Division II era.

Head coach Danny Leavy's Trojans are 9-1-2 overall and 4-1-2 in the GSC and have won four consecutive matches. Trevecca hosts Spring Hill College on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 7:00 p.m. at the Trevecca Soccer Complex.

Trevecca sits third in the GSC table with 14 points, one behind second-place UAH. Trevecca has played one fewer conference match than both UAH and league leader Auburn Montgomery, which has 20 points.

NATIONAL POWER INDEX RECOGNITION

Tuesday's Top 25 debut follows another national marker. Trevecca was No. 21 in Monday's inaugural NCAA Power Index release for Division II men's soccer. The NCAA uses NPI for at-large tournament selection, while the United Soccer Coaches rankings recognize the team's weekly national and regional standing.

THE PERFORMANCES BEHIND THE CLIMB

Trevecca has outscored opponents 28-13, including a 17-3 edge after halftime, and is unbeaten away from home at 4-0-2. The season includes a 1-0 clean sheet at then-No. 19 Carson-Newman, a 1-1 draw at then-No. 20 UAH and a 6-2 victory over Mississippi Christian.

Chris Douglas leads the attack with 10 goals, including a hat trick in the 4-3 comeback win at Freed-Hardeman. Daniel Shiel has seven goals, with a hat trick against Delta State and the winner at Union. Zion Jones has four goals, including the decisive finish at Christian Brothers. Judah Jones leads the team with seven assists, and Haden Brown has five.

Hunter Walker has played all 1,080 minutes in goal, collecting 55 saves and five clean sheets with a 1.08 goals-against average. The Trojans have conceded just once in their last two matches, beating Delta State 3-1 and Union 1-0.

NEXT UP

Trevecca returns to its home pitch Wednesday with a chance to extend its winning streak to five and reach 10 victories. Spring Hill visits for the 7 p.m. kickoff as the Trojans look to keep climbing with three GSC fixtures remaining.

The Trojans then travel to No. 10 Auburn Montgomery on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 3:30 p.m. before closing the conference schedule at home against West Alabama on Friday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. All times are Central.
