MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Trevecca Nazarene Women's Basketball team (11-6, 8-4 GSC) picked up a road conference win Thursday night, defeating Montevallo (3-14, 2-10 GSC) 57–43 behind a strong defensive performance.
THE SERIES
Trevecca evens the all-time series with Montevallo at 2–2, after sweeping this season's series against the Flacons.
THE MATCH
The game opened as a tight defensive battle, with Trevecca holding a slim
13–12 edge after the first quarter. Montevallo briefly found rhythm in the second period, locking up the Trojans and holding them to just three made field goals. The Trojans would head to the halftime break trailing by two after shooting just 29.6% from the field in the first half.
Trevecca took control in the third quarter, outscoring Montevallo 17–12 to grab momentum heading into the final frame. The Trojans then closed the door in the fourth quarter, holding Montevallo to just eight points while scoring 19 to secure the 57–43 win.
THE TEAM
Trevecca shot 21-for-58 (36.2%) from the field and 5-for-19 (26.3%) from three-point range, while limiting Montevallo to 15-for-53 (28.3%) overall. The Trojans controlled the glass with 44 rebounds and generated 20 second-chance points, adding 10 points off turnovers and 12 steals on the defensive end.
THE PLAYERS
Jordan Gillies led Trevecca with 22 points, adding 10 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals.
Cheyenne Trotter recorded yet another double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Tatum Shaw contributed 6 points, while
Ellie Butler added 5 points off the bench.
