Trevecca Women’s Basketball | Trojans Keep Momentum Going with Dominant Win

NASHVILLE, Tenn.  – The Trevecca Nazarene Women's Basketball team (9-6, 6-4 GSC) maintained its impressive form to start 2026 with a 67–48 win over Christian Brothers University (3-13, 0-10 GSC), making it three wins in four games this year.

THE SERIES

With the win, Trevecca improves to 3–0 against the Lady Bucs in women's basketball.

THE MATCH

In a tightly contested opening few minutes, the Trojans and Bucs traded baskets to start the game. Neither team found real separation until the final three minutes of the first quarter, when Trevecca closed the period on an 11–2 run to take a 20–10 lead into the second quarter.

Christian Brothers responded in the second quarter, outscoring the Trojans 15–14. Trevecca, however, had built enough of a cushion to carry a nine-point lead into halftime. This marked CBU's most productive quarter, as the Bucs connected on five field goals.

In the third quarter, CBU continued to show some fight, holding the Trojans to just four made field goals. Trevecca, however, still managed to outscore the Bucs 12–11 in what became the lowest-scoring quarter of the game, taking a 46–36 advantage into the final 10 minutes.

The fourth quarter was when Trevecca delivered the final punch, posting a 21-point period to close out the contest. The Trojans held CBU to just four made field goals in the quarter to secure the 67–48 victory.

THE TEAM

Despite the final score, the Trojans and Bucs did not shoot the ball drastically differently from a percentage standpoint. Trevecca shot 35.8 percent from the field, while CBU finished at 35.3 percent. The difference came in volume, as the Trojans knocked down 24 shots on 67 attempts compared to 18-for-51 shooting by the Bucs.

Trevecca was more dominant on the defensive end, forcing 13 turnovers and converting those into 24 points, double CBU's points off turnovers (12). The Trojans also recorded nine steals, compared to just one for the Bucs.

THE PLAYERS

Shinae Howard Johnson led the Trojans offensively with a 16-point performance, a season high. She added five rebounds and a steal for an all-around season-best outing.
Jordan Gillies followed with 13 points on 5-of-14 shooting, including 3-of-7 from beyond the arc. She also contributed eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals for another complete performance from the junior transfer.

Cheyenne Trotter finished just shy of a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds while adding two steals.

Tatum Shaw rounded out the Trojans in double figures with 10 points and recorded the team's lone block.
