NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University Women's Soccer team (0-1-0) opened its 2025 season on Thursday night with a 3-1 home loss to the University of Tampa (1-0-0) at the Trevecca Soccer Complex.
THE SERIES
This was the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
THE MATCH
Tampa opened the scoring in the 14th minute on a low strike from Ally Wold, assisted by Jalen Haas.
Trevecca found the equalizer just before halftime as
Noelle Garcia slotted one in from the right side off an assist from
Anna Farrell, leveling the match at 1-1 in the 44th minute.
Coming out of the break, the Spartans wasted little time reclaiming the lead, scoring in the 49th minute on a goal from Brielle Johnston. Tampa then extended their advantage to 3-1 in the 67th minute after Sydni Dennis converted a penalty kick.
Tampa held a 13-8 advantage in total shots and a 6-2 edge in shots on goal. Corner kicks were even at four apiece.
