NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer team (1-0-0) opened its 2025 season with a 2-1 win over Carson-Newman University (0-1-0) on Thursday evening at the Trevecca Soccer Complex.
THE SERIES
The matchup marked the third all-time meeting between the Trojans and Eagles. Last season, the teams tied 2-2 in Jefferson City. With Thursday's result, Trevecca earns its first win in the series, improving the head-to-head record to 1-1-1.
THE MATCH
Chris Douglas found the net twice in the first half to lead Trevecca to victory. The junior opened the scoring in the 15th minute, slotting home a low finish off a pass from
Callum Geoghegan.
After Carson-Newman equalized on a 28th-minute penalty kick by Ben Dukes.
Douglas answered once again in the 37th minute, this time beating the keeper to the lower left corner on an assist from
Daniel Shiel.
The second half saw plenty of intensity but no changes to the scoreline. Trevecca and Carson-Newman combined for 31 shots and 15 on frame, but the Trojans stayed in control defensively to close out the win.

Trevecca hits the road for the first time this season, traveling to Columbus, Ohio to take on former G-MAC rival Ohio Dominican on Thursday, September 11.
