CLINTON, Miss. – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's basketball team (7-18, 4-15 GSC) fell 73-56 to Mississippi College (14-12, 10-10 GSC) after a strong second-half surge by the Choctaws.

With the loss, Trevecca and Mississippi College are now 1-1 all-time in the series.
BREAKING IT DOWN
Trevecca battled through an evenly matched first half, keeping pace with Mississippi College.
The Choctaws jumped out to a 17-11 lead in the opening quarter, but the Trojans responded with a more efficient second quarter, outscoring the home team 16-13 to trim the deficit to just three at halftime, 30-27.
Coming out of the break, Mississippi College took control of the game, exploding for a 30-point third quarter—the most allowed by Trevecca in a single period this season.
The Choctaws' offensive onslaught stretched the margin to 17, and the Trojans were unable to recover.
Mississippi College found success from beyond the arc, hitting 11 three-pointers.

THE PLAYERS
Cheyenne Trotter led the Trojans with a double-double, posting 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Amaya Thomas matched Trotter with 15 points while grabbing seven rebounds.
Janissa Varela added seven points, three assists, and two rebounds.
Monique Emeliefonwu chipped in six points and two blocks.
THE TEAM
Trevecca shot 42.1% from the field, compared to 39.7% by Mississippi College. The Trojans struggled from beyond the arc, hitting just 8.3% (1-12) 3PT, while Mississippi College shot 33.3% (11-33) 3PT. Trevecca was 7-of-9 from the free-throw line (77.8%). The Trojans were outrebounded 42-33, including 20-12 on the offensive glass. Mississippi College capitalized on second-chance opportunities, outscoring Trevecca 18-8 in that category. The Choctaws forced 11 turnovers and converted them into 16 points.
