NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University Women's Basketball Team (7-17, 4-14 GSC) fell 59-43 to Lee University (20-4, 14-4 GSC) in Saturday's Gulf South Conference matchup. The game was part of a special reunion honoring the
Julie Van Beek Heisey era. Heisey restarted Trevecca's basketball program in 1996 and was inducted into the
Trevecca Hall of Fame in 2014.
THE SERIES
With this loss, the Trojans now trail the all-time series 17-12 against the Flames.
BREAKING IT DOWN
In al old rivalry revived, the first quarter was a tightly contested battle. Both teams traded baskets, with getting 4 of their starters in the scoresheet during the first quarter.
The biggest lead of the quarter was just three points, as the Trojans held a narrow 12-11 edge after 10 minutes of play.
Lee responded with a strong second quarter, capitalizing on their three-point shooting. The Flames connected on 4-of-8 shots from beyond the arc and outscored Trevecca 22-13 in the period. The Flame's effective shooting gave them a 33-25 advantage heading into the halftime break.
The second half followed a similar trend. The Trojans battled to stay in the game, but Lee's offensive efficiency made the difference.
The Flames outscored Trevecca 18-9 in the third quarter, extending their lead to 51-34 heading into the final frame.
The fourth quarter was evenly matched at 9-9, as both teams traded baskets in the closing minutes.
Lee's early second-half push proved too much to overcome as Trevecca fell 59-43.
THE PLAYERS
Cheyenne Trotter led the Trojans with a double-double, recording 16 points and 14 rebounds while going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.
Jayda Woods added seven points and three rebounds.
Amaya Thomas contributed six points and six rebounds.
Monique Emelifeonwu had three points, three rebounds, and two assists.
THE TEAM
Trevecca shot 26.4 percent from the field on 14-of-53 shooting, including 4-of-16 from beyond the arc. The Trojans were efficient at the free-throw line, converting 91.7 percent of their attempts (11-12). On the boards, Trevecca pulled down 38 rebounds, with 30 of them coming on the defensive end.

Trevecca is on the road next week for a two-game stretch, facing Mississippi College (13-12, 9-10 GSC) on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and Delta State (12-12, 8-10 GSC) on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
