SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
The Trojans and Bears had never met in baseball before today's games.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
No hits were allowed by either side until the Bears poked a ground-rule double over the left center field wall in the bottom of the third. After the Trojans collected their first base runner of the day off a
Luke Dymond single in the fourth, Lenoir-Rhyne broke the scoring drought in the home half of the frame. A two-run shot off the bat of clean-up hitter Sal Carricato gave the Bears a 2-0 lead. Trevecca cut the deficit in half in the fifth. With two outs,
Joey Parliment singled in
Brett Dingess, who led the inning off with a double, to make it 2-1.
Things changed in the fifth, though. The Bears plated six runs in total, all off two-out singles to make it an 8-1 game. After four more Lenoir-Rhyne runs crossed home in the sixth inning, the Trojans added their final two runs of the opener in the seventh. A groundout from
Cade Moore brought in one run before Parliment drove his second run of the game in off a sacrifice fly to right field. Another six-run inning by the Bears put the game out of reach as Lenoir-Rhyne held on for the 18-3 win.
