Trevecca Women’s Soccer | Trojan Cap Season with Draw vs. Union Bulldogs

NASHVILLE — The Trevecca Nazarene women's soccer team (4-7-5, 2-5-5 GSC) wrapped up the 2025 season on Sunday afternoon, and it was against one of their longest-standing rivals. The Trojans battled the Union University Bulldogs (4-6-4, 3-6-2 GSC) - a team the Trojans have played more than all but five opponents in program history - and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

THE SERIES
The meeting was the 14th in the all-time series, and it marked the first time that the teams have drawn. Union holds the all-time series lead at 11-2-1.

THE MATCH
Trevecca kicked-off the season finale, but it was Union who was able to go on the offensive early. The Bulldogs earned a corner kick in the second minute, and the Bulldogs recorded the first three shots of the match - two of which had to be answered by saves from Trevecca goalkeeper Bailie Fiore

Peyton Wilkinson recorded Trevecca's first shot in the 11th minute, and while it was turned away by Union's Anita Lopez Rodriguez in goal, it set off a flurry of Trevecca opportunities. The Trojans got three shots and two corners in a 90 second span, but the Trojans were unable to find the net, and the match continued scoreless for the remainder of the half.

Each team recorded three shots on goal in the opening stanza, Union out-shot Trevecca 8-6, but the Trojans notched four corner kick opportunities compared to only one for the Bulldogs.

Union controlled things territorially in the early stages of the second stanza, as the Bulldogs forced three different Trevecca goal kicks in the opening 10 minutes, and in the 69th minute, the pressure paid off, as Union drew first blood on a goal from Tessa Erzen.

The lead lasted only 3:05, though. With exactly 18 minutes remaining in the match, the Trojans answered, as Riley Kate Collins netted her second goal of the season into the bottom right corner and past Lopez Rodriguez to square the match at a goal apiece. Noelle Garcia and Maria Luisa Rocha had assists on the goal.

Trevecca had some opportunities in the final stages of the match, but Trevecca was just unable to pay them off. Garcia had a shot that was turned away only 95 seconds after the Trojans tied the score, and less than a minute later, Anna Allen was turned aside. In the 85th minute, Cristina Escudero had a shot blocked, and that proved to be the last, best chance for the Trojans. Neither team cracked the opposing defense, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Union out-shot Trevecca 21-12 in the match, including a 10-7 edge in shots on goal, but Fiore and the Trojans' defense held firm. Fiore (4-6-5) made nine saves in 90 minutes, and Lopez Rodriguez (2-0-3) made six saves, and each earned the decision in net.
