Trevecca Women’s Golf | Makenzie Norwood Leads Strong Trojan Showing at St. Simons Invitational

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's golf team carded several of its best scores in school history, including the best team 54-hole totals. They accomplished this despite facing schedule changes and shifting weather conditions at the St. Simons Invitational at the King and Prince Golf Course. The course played to a par of 72 over 5,801 yards.

The Trojans shot a record-setting 315-314-309=938 over the 54-hole invitational. The 54-hole team total of 938 demolishes the women's school record. Both the 2022–23 and 2020–21 teams previously owned the record with a matching 954.

The 309 in the third round is the second-best 18-hole total in program history. Three previous Trojan teams recorded a 307, and the 2013–14 team also recorded a 309.

The 36-hole total of 315-314=629 is one of the 10 best two-round totals in school history.

The Trojans finished 12th in the field of 18 teams.

Makenzie Norwood was the low Trojan with a 77-72-80=229. Her second-round even-par 72 is one of the Top 10 lowest rounds in school history. Her career-low round was a one-under-par 70 shot last September in the second round at the Full Moon BBQ Invitational. Her 149 after 36 holes is also a Top 10 all-time performance. Her 229 total over 54 holes is the sixth-best in school history. Norwood finished tied for 31st in a field of 100 golfers.

Emma Almquist's 78-78-76=232 is one of the Top 20 all-time 54-hole totals.

Freshman Maddie Goad shot a one-over-par 73 in the third round, which is good enough to make the Top 20 in school history.

The field included eighteen (18) teams and 100 individual golfers.
