NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (11-3, 5-0 GSC) won for the 100th time in head coach Emily Moore's career, a 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-10) win over the University of West Alabama Tigers (6-6, 2-3 GSC) on Friday night at Trojan Fieldhouse.

The Trojans are on a six-match win streak and have won nine of their last ten matches.

Also on the evening, Trevecca athletic director Mark Elliott surprised Katelyn Atkinson Morgan, one of the greatest players in program history, with the news she was recently elected to the Trevecca Athletic Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will be during the 2025 Trevecca's Homecoming weekend. It is set for Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 9:00 AM.

Series History

Trevecca is 3-0 versus West Alabama all-time.

Match Recap

After the teams swapped modest leads early, the Tigers took a 13-10 lead after a 8-3 run. Trevecca regained the lead and led 18-15 following 8-2 run. Trevecca held off a West Alabama push for a 25-22 win.

The second set opened with both teams grabbing a brief lead. The teams found themselves tied 10-10 when Trevecca gained some separation with an 8-2 run. The Tigers rallied again late, but the Trojans again held the off for an identical 25-22 win.

The third set has a similar start with both teams keeping it close, but with Trevecca leading 6-5, they began to build on the led, eventually leading 22-9. They settled for a 25-10 lead and match win.

Trojan Highlights

·       Addison Cunnagin led the Trojans with 10 kills completed the double-double with 11 digs.

·       Katilyn Grant (8), Kayla Bullard (9), and Kias Hainline (7) added to the balanced kills attack.

·       Skias Hainline added 27 assists, three blocks, and eight digs.

·       Reese Payne added to her career record blocks totals with seven.

·       The team hit .517 in the third set with 16 kills and just one error.

UP NEXT
Preseason No. 4 Mississippi College (7-8, 4-1 GSC) faces the Trojans on the Hill at 1:00 PM on Saturday, Oct. 4. The two teams split the regular season series last year, but the Choctaws won the rubber match in the GSC Championships. They now lead the all-time series 2-1.

Next, the Trojans hit the road for two matches, first a second meeting with the Union University Bulldogs (2-9, 0-4 GSC) at Fred Delay Gym in Jackson (10/7 – 6 PM). The Trojans swept Union to open the GSC season on Sept. 23 at Trojan Fieldhouse. The Trojans are 7-4 against the Union Bulldogs in the NCAA era.

Then, the Trojans visit Alabama again, this time in Montgomery against the AUM Warhawks (1-12, 0-4 GSC) in the AUM Athletics Complex (10/11 – 2 PM). The Warhawks and Trojans each won on their homecourt last year, the only two meetings in volleyball for the two schools.

The first meeting of the year with Christian Brothers University (7-9, 2-3 GSC) follows at Trojan Fieldhouse on October 14 at 6 PM. The Bucs own the NCAA D2 era series 5-4. Each team won on the other teams home court last year. TNU has won three of the last four meetings in the series.

The longest road trip of the year comes next. First, a trip to Valdosta State University (4-10, 3-2 GSC) at 5 PM on Oct. 17. The Blazers won both meetings last season. Those are the only two meetings in the series.

The next day, Oct. 18, the Trojans play at preseason favorite University of West Florida (12-3, 5-0 GSC) at 2 PM. The Argonauts swept the Trojans last year in what are the only two meetings between the two schools in volleyball.
