CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's basketball team (4-9, 1-6 GSC) opened 2025 with a loss to Lee University (10-3, 4-3 GSC) 65-47 in Paul Dana Walker Arena on Saturday afternoon.

THE SERIES
Trevecca and Lee have met 29 times, with the Flames owning a 17-12 all-time lead. In the NCAA Division II era, the edge belongs to Lee, 6-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Trojans kicked off the first quarter with five quick points before some sharp shooting by the Flames tied things at 7-7 with 7:28 to play. Scoring slowed for both sides to close the period as Trevecca used a 3-pointer from Jayda Woods to take a 10-7 lead before Lee countered with a pair of baskets to take a 12-10 after the first ten minutes.

The teams played practically even through much of the second period as Lee only managed a four-point advantage at two different points. With 2:35 to play in the half, a Jayda Woods jumper gave the Trojans their final lead of the half at 28-27. Cheyenne Trotter made a free-throw down the stretch as the Trojans faced a 32-29 halftime deficit.

Things became unraveled in the third, as the Flames put together their second consecutive frame of 20 points while the Trojans scored just nine. Trevecca made three field goals on 10 tries to trail 52-38 at the end of three.

In the fourth, the Trojans made just a single field goal and were seven-of-eight from the foul line allowing the Flames to stretch their lead to as many as 20 before claiming the 65-47 victory.

THE TEAM
Trevecca shot 33.3% from the field. The Trojans were 4-20 (20.0%) from deep and shot 11-16 (68.8%) at the free-throw line. Lee won the battle of the boards, 32-26. The Flames dished out more assists, 14-6 while also producing more steals, 8-5. The Trojans had more blocks, 4-0.
