YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's soccer team (1-0-0) began the 2024 season with a 2-0 win over Young Harris College (0-2-0) at the YHC Soccer Field on Saturday afternoon

THE SERIES
The Trojans and Mountain Lions met for the first time in women's soccer.

THE MATCH
In his second full season at the helm of the Purple and White, coach Nathan Harrell leaned heavily on newcomers for his season-opening eleven, with the only two exceptions of newcomers Maria Rocha and Jordan Hellman, both transfer students.

The Trojans found themselves in the lead early in the game when an Isabel Felger corner kick found newcomer Jordan Hellman's head for her debut goal and a 1-0 lead for the team just 3:39 minutes into the game

The Trojans defensive block had a solid outing keeping the Mountain Lions without a single shot on goal in the first half, carrying that 1-0 lead to the break.

Early, again, now in the second half, the Trojans capitalized on another set-piece opportunity. A loose ball from a corner found its way to substitute Allie Windom, who slotted it home just two minutes into the half (47:21), doubling Trevecca's lead.

The Trojan's held on to the lead and kept their first clean sheet of the season behind three Bailie Fiore saves and sealed a 2-0 win for the season opener.

UP NEXT
The Trojans start next week on the road when they take on former Great Midwest rival Kentucky Wesleyan College (0-2) on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. before hosting Carson-Newman University (0-2) a week from today at 3:00 p.m.
