MONTGOMERY, AL – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer team (2-4-2, 1-2-1 GSC) suffered a 2-0 loss on Sunday against No. 11 Auburn University at Montgomery (4-0-3, 2-0 GSC) at the AUM Soccer Complex.
THE SERIES
This match marked the first-ever meeting between the Trojans and the Warhawks in men's soccer.
THE GAME
Coach Danny Leavy made one change from Friday's loss to Montevallo, moving
Max Titterington from center back to midfield, while
Joey Houser was brought into the starting defensive line.
The Warhacks capitalized on an early misplay by Trevecca in the fifth minute. A turnover off a goal kick allowed Adam Hanson to steal the ball and set up Benjamin Hoffman, just five minutes into the match.
AUM doubled their lead with 12 minutes remaining when Carlo Russo headed in a cross from Nick Atkinson.
Trevecca struggled to break through the Warhawks' defense, managing only two shots on target. Despite the loss, Adan Gonzales came up big with six saves, including a crucial stop on a penalty kick from AUM's Logan Roach, keeping the Trojans within reach when still 1-0 down.
