NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer team (2-2-2. 1-0-1 GSC) concluded their first ever GSC week with a 1-1 draw at home agsint the University of West Alabama (2-2-2, 0-1-1 GSC).
THE SERIES
This was the first ever matchup between Tigers and Trojans in men's soccer.
THE GAME
For the first time this season, Coach Danny Leavy opted to repeat the same starting eleven from the previous match, following their historic debut victory at Alabama Huntsville.
West Alabama took the lead in the 36th minute when Michael Bell scored his first goal of the season, assisted by David Nunez. The Tigers held the 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.
Trevecca found their equalizer in the 59th minute when
Josh Farrell netted a goal off
Tom Hooper set-piece assist.
Adan Gonzales was rock solid in goal for Trevecca, making four crucial saves to keep the Trojans in the game. Both teams had chances to take the lead, but neither side could capitalize, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
