Trevecca Baseball | Trojans Split with Panthers to Finish Regular Season

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (28-21, 20-12 Great Midwest) finished up the regular season with Ohio Dominican University (27-21, 18-14 Great Midwest) splitting games at Panther Valley Field on Friday afternoon.   

       
SERIES HISTORY/NOTES      
After this weekend's four-games, the Trojans lead the all-time series with the Panthers 16-8.  

      
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE      
Ohio Dominican struck first with a four run second inning. The Panthers scored three on a pair of RBI doubles and a fourth run on a fielding error. Trevecca managed two runs in the top of the third off a double from Joey Parliment. David Milam sliced the deficit to one, 4-3, with his solo home run in the fourth but that was as close as the Trojans would get. The Panthers smashed a pair of two-run doubles in both the fourth and fifth innings to grow their advantage to 8-3. Milam connected for his second home run of the day in his next at-bat in the sixth, but it was not enough as Trevecca fell 8-5 in game one. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME ONE      
* Andru Becker was 2-4 with a run scored.   

* David Milam was 2-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored. 

* Joey Parliment went 1-4 with two RBIs. 

* Spencer Wilkins (6-3) took the loss by allowing five earned runs over five innings of work with three strikeouts.  

       
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO     

After an unconventional three-run inning by the Panthers in the first, the Trojans chipped away at the hosts lead in the next three frames. A bases loaded walk plated the first run for Trevecca in the second before Josh Griffin's RBI single in the third made it a 3-2 game. Joey Parliment pushed the Trojans ahead in the fourth inning with a two-run home run to left field. ODU regained the lead briefly in the sixth with two runs off a throwing error and a triple but it was all Trevecca from there. The Trojans poured on 10 runs in the eighth and ninth innings to claim the 14-5 win. 

     
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME TWO      
* Andru Becker was 2-4 with four RBIs, three runs scored and a walk.  

* Josh Griffin went 2-3 with two walks, two RBIs and a run scored.   

* Haven Mangrum was 2-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored.  

* Braden Reece (2-0) picked up the win by tossing 3.1 innings of relief. Reece collected three strikeouts and gave up just four hits in the win. 

    
NEXT ON THE DIAMOND       
The Trojans wait for the weekend games to come to a close tomorrow before learning their final seed for next week's Great Midwest Athletic Conference tournament. 

The tournament is being hosted by Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio May 8-11.
