Trevecca Softball | Trojans Complete Sweep of Walsh With Walk-Off

NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University softball team (32-10, 14-2 Great Midwest) closed the weekend with a sweep of Walsh University (6-20, 1-5 Great Midwest) at the Trevecca Softball Complex on Saturday afternoon.

Trevecca leads the all-time series with Walsh 13-2 with both losses by a margin of two or less runs. The Trojans have won five straight against the Cavaliers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GM 1: TNU 6, WU 1
A pair of home runs by Kendall Andrews and Kyleigh Burgett in the first helped the Trojans to a quick three-run lead. Trevecca tacked on two more in the second off a ground out RBI and RBI single to hold a 5-0 lead. Walsh received its only run of the game in the third off a wild pitch. Sarah Kinderdine got the run back for the Trojans in the fifth, though, off a double she sent down the left field line as Trevecca earned the 6-1 win.

CIRCLE AND BOX NOTES
Eight different Trojans collected at least one hit, combining for 10.
* Kendall Andrews went 2-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.
* Anna Bennett was 2-3 with two runs scored.

GM 2: TNU 7, WU 6 – F/9
The Trojans struck first in game two as well with an RBI single in the second. Walsh took the lead in the third with a pair of runs and stretched it as much as five with a three run fourth inning. The Trojans forced extras after a four run seventh inning saved the day. Annabelle Ellis doubled to left center to start the effort before Sydney McCormick drew a bases loaded walk to pull within two. Consecutive hit-by-pitches drew the Trojans even at 5-5. Both sides added a run in the eighth inning before Annabelle Ellis and Trevecca walked it off in the ninth. With one out, Ellis drilled a ball to left field to lift the Trojans to the 7-6 win.
