CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (27-18, 19-9 Great Midwest) took three of four games from Thomas More University (14-34, 7-25 Great Midwest) at Thomas More Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
The Saints and Trojans had never met in baseball before this weekend's four-game sweep by Trevecca.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
With one out in the top of the first, Cole McCallum connected for an RBI single to begin the scoring for Trevecca who produced a season-high 21 runs in game one. The Saints matched the RBI single in the bottom half of the frame but could only muster four more hits the rest of the way. The Trojans' lead swelled to 4-1 after the second saw a pair of RBI singles and a solo home run by Abbott Lawrence. Trevecca took the third off but saved up for a big fourth inning. Eight runs past home plate in the fourth, three of which came from home runs. Joey Parliment hit a two-run shot followed by Haven Mangrum's solo bomb. The Trojans led 12-1 after the inning and tacked on another run in the fifth. Josh Griffin singled in Mangrum to produce a 13-1 advantage. The sixth inning brought the Trojans' second eight run frame of the day. Mangrum got things rolling with a bases loaded single before David Milam's sacrifice fly to center field scored another run meaning the final six runs came with two outs. Roland Ryan cleared the bases in the next at bat with a three-run homer before Andru Becker did the same feat but with a triple to help the Trojans to the 21-1 victory.
