NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (14-10, 7-3 Great Midwest) opened a four-game series with Hillsdale College (9-15, 4-6 Great Midwest), taking both games at Jackson Field on Friday.
SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
Trevecca leads the all-time series with Hillsdale, 14-9, having won eight of the last nine games and three straight meetings.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
The Trojans jump started a high-scoring day with a three run first.
Joey Parliment hit an RBI double to right center before
Cole McCallum cleared the bases with a two-run shot left center. Trevecca blew the game open in the fourth inning by exploding for seven runs. The Trojans scored five different ways in the frame including the rare form of run via balk and by stealing home. Slightly less rare was a run off a wild pitch and the more common RBI double and a pair of run scoring singles made way for the 10-0 lead. Despite a sacrifice fly by the Chargers in the fifth, the Trojans got three runs in the bottom half of the inning when
Abbott Lawrence hit a bases clearing double. The lead ballooned by five runs in the sixth when Parliment hit a three-run bomb to left center followed by
Ellis Hurt's single up the middle to score two.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
Trevecca was silenced until the second inning in the game when they scored five runs.
David Milam's double to right center scored two while RBI singles from Parliment and Mangrum gave Trevecca a 5-0 lead. The Chargers got a run back in the top of the third, before the Trojans added three runs in the bottom half of the inning. A bases loaded walk and a two-run single by
Andru Becker made it an 8-1 game. Singles in the fourth and fifth scored runs for the Chargers before Trevecca struck again for one in the fifth. Hillsdale scored a run in the sixth off a groundout before the Trojans exploded for an 11-run inning. Five RBI singles and three RBI doubles skyrocketed the lead to 20-4. Hillsdale's three runs in the seventh were not enough to overcome the Trojan lead.
