Trevecca Softball | Trojans Sweep Lake Erie to Extend Win Streak to Seven

NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University softball team (25-9, 7-1 Great Midwest) swept a pair of games with visiting Lake Erie College (0-20, 0-6 Great Midwest) at the Trevecca Softball Complex on Sunday.

The Trojans have won seven in a row and 11 of their last 12 games.

Trevecca is 12-1 all-time versus Lake Erie with the Storm snapping the 10-game winning streak in last season's game two one run win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GM 1: TNU 3, LEC 0

Back-to-back singles in the second set the stage for the eventual winning run as Sydney McCormick scored off a throwing error by the catcher. She led the inning off with a single up the middle. Trevecca added two more runs in the third after Kendall Andrews led the frame off with a walk. Andrews stole second and then third before scoring off a second throwing error by the catcher. Lake Erie had just three baserunners all game. The first came in the fifth off an error and the Storm had a double in the sixth and a single in the seventh as the Trojans produced the 3-0 shutout win.

CIRCLE AND BOX NOTES
Five different Trojans collected at least one hit, combining for eight.
Annabelle Ellis went 2-4.
Sydney McCormick was 2-2 with a run scored and a walk.
Gracie Kirby went 1-2 with an RBI.
Ashlan Sensing (12-5) started and went the full seven innings. Sensing allowed just two hits in the complete game shutout while striking out nine.
Sensing leads the Great Midwest in strikeouts, wins and innings pitched.
Today's game was the eighth shutout of the season.

GM 2: TNU 8, LEC 0
The Trojans scored two in the bottom of the first, but it wasn't until a three-run fourth and three-run fifth that the Trojans salted the game away, forcing the run-rule into play. The two runs in the first came on a bases loaded hit-by-pitch and walk. In the fourth, Anna Bennett hit a SAC fly for an RBI then Kyleigh Burgett doubled to drive in Kendall Andrews and Annabelle Ellis. In the fifth, Maddie Poscheke homered for the first run, then Addy Grace Summers and Anna Bennett each delivered back-to-back RBI singles to put the run-rule into play.
