Trevecca Baseball | Trojans Take Three of Four From Malone

NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (12-10, 5-3 Great Midwest) took three of four games against Malone University (4-18, 1-8 Great Midwest), splitting both games at Jackson Field on Saturday.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
Trevecca's 14-game winning streak versus Malone was snapped in game two after having won 16 of the 20 all-time meetings with the Pioneers. Before today, the last Pioneer win came in 2017.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
The Trojans won the game by scoring three runs off a sacrifice fly and two RBI singles up the middle. In the third, Josh Seiler sent a ball to left field that brought in Carter Warner while Cole McCallum's single scored Haven Mangrum. Malone got its first run off a wild pitch thrown in the top of the fourth before Trevecca got the run back with Joey Parliment's RBI single in the home half of the frame. An RBI single by the Pioneers in the fifth was not enough as the Trojans picked up the 3-2 win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME ONE

* Five Trojans collected at least one hit.
* Joey Parliment went 1-3 with an RBI.
* Josh Seiler was 1-1 with an RBI and a walk.
* Cole McCallum went 1-3 with an RBI.
* Jack Keele (4-1) started and went the full seven innings, allowing just five hits while striking out three.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
Much like yesterday's second game, the Pioneers got their first run of the day off a sacrifice fly in the top of the first. Trevecca waited until the bottom of the third to take the lead back with two RBI singles by Haven Mangrum and Cole McCallum, respectively. Malone pushed back with a three run fifth inning highlighted by a two-run single down the right field line with the bases loaded. With one out and the bases loaded in the seventh, the Trojans opened up the game with a five spot. A walk, then a run scoring single tied the game at 4-4 before Roland Ryan sent a ball to right center field to clear the bases for a 7-4 lead. The Pioneers did not go quietly in the eighth. A four-run inning bolstered the visitors ahead once again behind a wild pitch, a two-run triple and an RBI double. Malone added two more runs in the top of ninth to seal the 10-7 loss for Trevecca.
