CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University softball team (21-9, 3-1 Great Midwest) swept Lee University (10-13, 6-6 Gulf South) at the Stanley Butler Softball Field on Wednesday.
Trevecca is 10-8 versus the Flames in the NCAA Division II era. The Trojans took the two last meetings with Lee 8-5 and 2-1, which were in 2019. Trevecca has won five straight against Lee.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GM 1: TNU 6, LEE 3
Trevecca jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first after
Kyleigh Burgett crushed her third home run of the year. Trojan starter Ashland Sensing allowed just three Lee baserunners through the first two frames before Trevecca opened up the game in the third.
Sarah Nicholson doubled in Burgett who led the inning off with a single. After a pitching change, Nicholson was able to score during
Sydney McCormick's at bat which saw two more Trojans touch home. In the bottom of the third, the Flames got on the scoreboard with an RBI single to left center field, but the damage was done. Despite a two run fifth inning for the hosts, Lee could not overcome the six-run hole as Trevecca went on to win 6-3.

Kendall Andrews knocked home two with a single up the middle. After Burgett singled Andrews over to third she later stole home for the eighth run of the game.
Trevecca sealed the run rule opportunity with an extra five runs in the fifth. The first four Trojans reached base safely as an
