Trevecca Baseball | Trojans Close Lake Erie Series with Offensive Explosion

NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (9-8, 2-2) split its four-game series with Lake Erie College (10-9, 2-2) at Jackson Field Saturday and Sunday.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
On Friday, the Storm snapped the Trojans' 11-game winning streak which dated back to the 2021 season. Overall, Trevecca leads the series 13-8 following the four-game series split.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
Trevecca opened the third game, a scheduled seven inning game, of the series with a run in the bottom of the first when Joey Parliment drove in Haven Mangrum with a ground out, but the Storm scored eight unanswered runs with three in the second, three in the sixth, and two in the seventh.

TNU made some noise in the seventh, but the three-run rally fell short. Joey Parliment delivered a three-run home run that took advantage of two pinch-hitters reaching base – Alex Fernandez and Logan Harrell.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME ONE
Trevecca couldn't capitalize on three Storm errors with only three hits for the game.
Joey Parliment drove in all four runs reaching on a walk and a three-run home run.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
Cole McCallum hit a solo home run in the second inning, giving the Trojans a 1-0 lead.

In the fourth, the Trojans unloaded with ten runs for a 11-0 lead. Joey Parliment homered for the second time on the day, driving in Cooper Whitt to get things started in the fourth. Abbott Lawrence flung the door wide open with a grand slam. Haven Mangrum doubled to drive in a run, but an error allowed a second run to score. Parliment wasn't finished in the inning as he doubled to driving another run. Cole McCallum filled in the final run for the 10-run outburst with an RBI-double.

The last two runs were driven in on an Abbott Lawrence single and a Cooper Whitt sac fly in the sixth inning. The game, scheduled for nine, was shortened seven innings due to the run rule.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME TWO
All nine Trojan batters in the lineup reached base at least once.

Joey Parliment went 2-4 at the plate with two runs scored, three RBI, additionally reached on a walk to go along with his double and home run.
Abbott Lawrence also had a big day, going 2-3 with a run scored, five RBI, the grand slam, and reached on a hit-by-pitch.
Trevecca had five doubles one each from Haven Mangrum, Joey Parliment, Cole McCallum, David Milam, and Josh Seiler.
Spencer Wilkens (2-2) started and went six innings to get his second win of the year. Wilkins didn't allow a run and walked two and allowed three hits while striking out eight.
Aaron McCoy closed the game out on the mound with an inning of perfection topped off with two strikeouts.

UP NEXT
Trevecca plays Delta State University (15-12, 8-4 GSC) at USA Stadium in Millington, Tennessee on Tuesday at 3:00 PM. This is the first meeting between Trevecca and Delta State in baseball. Delta State is tied for second in the Gulf South baseball standings. The Statesmen were picked to finish sixth of 13 teams in the preseason poll.

Trevecca hosts Malone University (3-14, 0-4 Great Midwest) next weekend for another four-game Great Midwest series at Jackson Field. Trevecca owns a 13-3 series advantage with the Pioneers, having won the last 11 in the series. The last Pioneer win came in 2017.
