COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Trevecca Nazarene University softball team (19-9, 3-1 Great Midwest) split a pair of games with Ohio Dominican University (12-4, 1-1 Great Midwest) at the Panther Softball Field on Saturday.
Since 2006, the Trojans and Panthers have split all 24 games played.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GM 1: ODU 4, TNU 3
Combined there were a total of four base runners through the first three innings and just two hits, both by the Trojans. Ohio Dominican broke through the defensive struggle in the fourth with an RBI bunt single. After going quietly in the fifth, the Trojans bats erupted for three runs in the sixth.
Kendall Andrews led the inning off with a solo home run and was matched by Sarah Nicolson who smashed a two-run shot to give Trevecca a 3-1 lead. The Panthers tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom half of the inning off an error and an RBI groundout.
Despite an Ashlan Sensing single in the top of the seventh, the Trojans were retired. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Ohio Dominican walked it off with an RBI single through the left side with the bases loaded to pick up the win.
CIRCLE AND BOX NOTES
* Six different Trojans collected at least one hit.
* Ashlan Sensing (9-5) started and went the full 6.2 innings. Sensing allowed all four runs while striking out five and issuing three walks in the loss.
* Sensing leads the Great Midwest in strikeouts, wins and innings pitched.
GM 2: TNU 5, ODU 4
After falling behind a run in the first, the Trojans took a one run lead which they would not surrender the rest of the way in the second. Annabelle Ellis and
Maddie Poschke both went yard for the lead.
ODU added a run in the fourth off an RBI single through the left side before the Trojans recaptured the lead in the fifth off a
Kendall Andrews triple to left field. Both sides added two runs each in the seventh, but
Alex Behnke closed the door on the Panther rally with a pop out to third base.

* Kendall Andrews was 2-3 with a double, triple, walk and two RBIs.
* Halle Grace Patton (5-2) started and went six innings, allowing all four runs while striking out one in the win.
NEXT ON THE DIAMOND
The Trojans return to Tennessee but remain on the road as they take on Lee University (9-10, 5-5 GSC) for a doubleheader on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
Trevecca is 8-8 versus the Flames in the NCAA Division II era. The Trojans took the last meeting with Lee 8-5, which was in 2019. Trevecca has won three straight against Lee.
