NORTH CANTON, Ohio – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's basketball team (16-8, 12-5 G-MAC) saw its eight-game winning streak halted by Walsh University (6-17, 4-13 G-MAC), 62-60, on Thursday evening in the Cecchini Center.
The Trojans saw their three-game winning streak snapped after having beaten Walsh three times during the 2022-23 season. Walsh takes an 8-5 lead in the all-time series which began during the 2017-18 season when the Cavaliers joined the G-MAC.
BREAKING IT DOWN
Despite missing its first three shots, Walsh jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the first three minutes of the game. Trevecca followed suit, also missing its first three shots before
Kor Fornesa Liu broke the silence at the 6:55 mark.
Faith Wilken hit a 3-pointer and Konner Gambrell made a layup as Trevecca produced a season-low seven points in the first quarter. Previously the Trojans season-low points for a quarter was nine in the third quarter versus Ursuline.
The second quarter saw the Cavaliers maintain at least a three-point lead throughout. The Trojans pulled within that three-point margin after
Lili Wilken connected for a 3-poninter with just over three minutes left in the half to make it a 24-21 game. From there, Walsh used a 7-0 run to reestablish its lead before
Faith Wilken made one free-throw to make it a 31-22 game at halftime.
The Trojans offense came alive in the third sparked by a pair of 3-pointers by Lili Wilken to open the scoring. Trevecca used an extended 11-3 run to pull within a possession late in the third quarter. Walsh enjoyed only a 50-44 lead at the end of the third.
Keeley Carter scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter for Trevecca, trimming the deficit down to two points, 53-51, with 6:15 to play. The Wilken sisters gave the Trojans their first lead of the night on back-to-back possessions.

Faith Wilken's 3-pointer gave Trevecca the lead with 4:54 to play. After Trevecca built as much as a four-point lead with under three minutes to play, the Cavaliers chipped away at the advantage. Trailing by one, 61-60,
Keeley Carter was called for an offensive foul in the Trojans next to last possession to seal things for Walsh who won 62-60.
KEY PLAYERS
Keeley Carter collected a game-high 27 and finished off the double-double with 10 rebounds.
Lili Wilken finished with 12 points on 3-of-6 shooting from 3-point range while Konner Gambrell turned in 10 points and three rebounds.
TEAM TIME
Trevecca shot 35.1% from the field and 7-20 (35.0%) from deep. The Trojans shot 13-22 (59.1%) at the free-throw line. Trevecca was out rebounded by Walsh 46-35 and had less assists, 13-8. The Trojans collected 16 steals, more than the Cavaliers' six while both sides rejected six shots.

The Trojans take on longtime Great Midwest rivals Cedarville University (5-19, 3-14 G-MAC) on Saturday, February 24 at 12:00 p.m.
Trevecca looks to sweep the season series with Cedarville after having beaten the Yellow Jackets 80-53 on February 8. The Trojans won last season's only meeting to stop the Yellow Jackets' 14 game-winning streak in the series. Cedarville leads 17-5 all-time since 2013.
