SMRYNA, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University softball team (6-2) continued the Music City Invitational on Saturday by sweeping games with Purdue Northwest and Ferris State University at Cedar Stone Park.
The Trojans beat Purdue Northwest (3-2), 3-0, to open play and then later defeated Ferris State University (1-5), 7-2 to close out the afternoon.
GM 1: HOW IT HAPPENED
Trevecca 3, Purdue Northwest 0
Through two innings of play, both sides managed a combined four hits before the Trojans broke through in the third. The first three Trojans reached base as
Kendall Andrews RBI single to right field proved to be the game winner. Andrews brought in
Anna Bennett who led the inning off with a walk.
Addy Grace Summers was later driven in off the bat of
Annabelle Ellis who singled to third base. Trevecca plated its final run of the game in the fifth when Summers scored on an error by the first baseman after leading the inning off with a single.

Trevecca 7, Ferris State 2
The Trojans put one run past home plate in each of the first two innings before the Bulldogs tied it in the bottom of the third with a two-run double. Trevecca responded with a three run fourth inning when
Malone Thrift grounded out to score

Kyleigh Burgett triple allowed Annebelle Ellis to score and Burgett later scored in the frame off a wild pitch. The Trojans added one more run in the sixth when
Anna Bennett singled through the right side to score Thrift. Trevecca closed out the scoring with one more run in the seventh when Andrews scored on an error by the third baseman to help the Trojans to the 7-2 win.

MUSIC CITY INVITATIONAL NOTES
This is the fifth season the Trojans have hosted the Music City Invitational and the third consecutive year the tournament has been played at Cedar Stone Park in Smyrna. Including today's results, Trevecca is 14-4 all-time in MCI games and has now played 11 different opponents over the years.

NEXT ON THE SOFTBALL SLATE
The Trojans play Quincy University on Monday, February 19 finishing out the Music City Invitational on the Trevecca campus. The game with Quincy is the first official home game and the last home game until the Trojans host Lake Erie College on March 22.
