FINDLAY, Ohio – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's basketball team (11-7, 7-4 G-MAC) picked up a road win versus the University of Findlay (9-11, 5-7 G-MAC), 76-57, on Thursday evening in Niekamp Arena.
With the win, the Trojan sweep the season series against UF, having defeated the Oilers 77-68 to open conference play on November 28. The Trojans have won the previous four contests against Findlay and five of the last six. Findlay narrowly holds the 7-6 lead in the all-time series.
BREAKING IT DOWN
After surrendering the opening basket of the game, the Trojans locked in defensively.
Lili Wilken and
Faith Wilken combined for the first five points for Trevecca who used a 10-0 run to separate in the middle minutes of the first quarter. The Trojans looked at a 15-7 advantage with 3:58 left in the quarter and held a 19-9 lead after the first.
The Trojans built upon their first quarter offensive effort with 20 second quarter points. In fact, in the final four minutes of the half, the Trojans produced an 8-0 run to take a 39-20 lead into the locker room.
Trevecca's defense did not provide Findlay with much room to work with all night long. In the third, the Oilers managed just four points in the first five minutes of action. The Trojans stretched their lead to 22 at 57-35 after three quarters.
Down the stretch in the fourth quarter, Findlay cut ever so slightly into the Trevecca advantage, but a strong closing effort led by
