FINDLAY, Ohio – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (13-6, 8-3 Great Midwest) lost to the University of Findlay (8-10, 5-5 Great Midwest), 89-70, on Thursday evening in Niekamp Arena.
Findlay earns a season split with Trevecca after the Trojans took down the Oilers for the first time in school history earlier this season with a 96-90 victory to open conference play on 11-28-23.
BREAKING IT DOWN
The Trojans quickly found themselves behind in this one as Findlay jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the opening two minutes. After a Jamal Cannady jumper at 15:27 cut into the deficit at 14-9, the Oilers put the game out of reach over the next eight minutes. Findlay used an extended run of 24-1 to lead 38-10 with 7:07 to play. Collectively, the Oilers shot an impressive 61.8% from the field in the first half including 54.5% from 3-point range to control a 55-29 lead at halftime.
To open the second half, Findlay's offensive prowess was unrelenting. The hosts jumped out to a quick 11-4 run to double up the Trojans 66-33 with 14:13 to play. The Oilers remained firmly in control until a 13-5 stretch pulled the Trojans within 20 at 85-65 with 3:05 to play. With under a minute to go, Aiden Williams got into the game and fired off a 3-pointer while Justin Bass also collected the final points with a jumper.
KEY PLAYERS
Jamal Cannady turned in a team-high 15 points with six rebounds. Jalen Page and Tommy Gankhuyag both posted 11 points each. Page had six rebounds and a pair of assists while Gankhuyag posted five rebounds and four assists.
TEAM TIME
Trevecca shot 41.7% (25-60) from the field was 34.5% (10-29) from deep and was 71.4% (10-14) from the foul line. Trevecca had the edge in rebounds 35-31 but had fewer assists 22-15, and fewer steals 10-4.

The Trojans head to Columbus, Ohio to square off against Ohio Dominican University (3-13, 0-9 G-MAC) on Saturday, February 3 at 2:00 pm. The Trojans trail the all-time series with the Panthers 7-5 after knocking off ODU in Trojan Fieldhouse 51-44 in the previous meeting.
