NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (11-15, 8-7 GSC) swept the University of West Alabama (2-24, 0-16 GSC) in Trojan Fieldhouse on Homecoming Saturday afternoon.

The Trojans swept past the Tigers in three sets, winning, 25-15, 25-16, 25-16.

THE SERIES
Before the October 4 match, the Trojans had never beaten the Tigers, having last played in the 2002 season. With today's win, the all-time series is now tied 2-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Trojans lost their opening service point and trailed for the first and only time in the opening set. After responding by taking the next three points, it was all Trevecca from there. The Trojans built upon their eight-point lead at 21-13 and closed the set with a 10-point margin at 25-15 with a service error and a service ace both in their favor.

Trevecca never trailed in the second set after taking the first two points. The difference in this one came when the Trojans turned their 5-3 lead into an eight-point lead with seven straight points at 11-3. The Trojans took the set 25-16 after a pair of attack errors and a kill.

The Trojans set themselves up the quick sweep by taking the opening five points of the third. West Alabama responded with four points of their own to remain competitive in the early stages of the third. The Trojans pounced back and maintained at least a three-point margin the rest of the way onto their second straight sweep of GSC competition in as many days.

THE TEAM
Trevecca collectively hit .417 with 31 kills and 29 assists. Trevecca collected five blocks and 10 service aces with 27 digs.

THE PLAYERS
Addison Cunnagin offered a team-most eight kills on 14 total attacks while Emma Titus added seven kills and a dig. Elizabeth Wells produced six kills as well.

UP NEXT
The Trojans host Lee University (16-12, 10-6 GSC) on Thursday, November 7 for Senior Day.
