NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer team (3-5-2, 2-3-1 GSC) secured a 2-1 win over Spring Hill College (3-5-0, 3-2-0 GSC) on Sunday at the Trojan Soccer Complex, thanks to a
Daniel Shiel brace, two goals, in the second half.
THE SERIES
This was the first-ever meeting between Trevecca and Spring Hill in men's soccer.
THE GAME
After a quiet first half, the Trojans broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute when
Daniel Shiel found the back of the net of a
Judah Jones pass back to give Trevecca a 1-0 lead.
Spring Hill responded just 13 minutes later, equalizing in the 65th minute when Rutger Hesselink scored off a corner kick delivered by Adrian Rodriguez, leveling the match at 1-1.
However, Shiel struck again in the 80th minute to seal the victory for the Trojans. After
Joseph Collins' shot hit the post, the rebound fell perfectly to Shiel, who headed it into the net for the game-winner.
The Trojans displayed an aggressive attacking approach, logging a season-high 23 shots in the match.
