NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer team (4-7-3, 3-4-2 GSC) fought back to earn a 1-1 draw against Delta State University (3-4-7, 2-3-4 GSC) on Sunday afternoon at the Trojan Soccer Complex.
Chris Douglas's late goal salvaged a point for the Trojans in their final home game of the regular season.
THE GAME
Trevecca opted, as has become usual, for a three-man back line, providing plenty of width and flexibility in the attack. Despite the Trojans' offensive push, Delta State threatened throughout the first half, creating several close calls. Trevecca's defense held strong, with a combination of miraculous saves by the goalkeeper, well-timed blocks, and even a bit of help from the post, keeping the game scoreless at the break.
Delta State broke the deadlock in the 76th minute when Santi Rossi found the back of the net with an assist from Chad Hudson, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead.
The Trojans responded quickly, leveling the score just four minutes later.
Chris Douglas netted his fifth goal of the season, finishing off an assist from
Joey Houser in the 80th minute to tie the game at 1-1.
