NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer team (4-7-2, 3-4-1 GSC) suffered a tough 4-1 loss to Mississippi College (7-4-1, 5-3-0 GSC) on Friday afternoon at the Trojan Soccer Complex.

THE SERIES
This match marked the first meeting between the Trojans and Choctaws in men's soccer.

THE GAME
Trevecca got off to a promising start, opening the scoring in just the 5th minute. Ben Singer found the back of the net to give the Trojans an early 1-0 lead, providing a boost of momentum in the opening minutes.

Mississippi College quickly countered, leveling the score in the 12th minute when Sergio Garrido converted an assist from Santi Diosa.

The Choctaws continued to press, and in the 35th minute, they took the lead after Denis O. John scored from the penalty spot, putting Trevecca down 2-1 going into halftime.

In the second half, the Trojans pushed forward in search of an equalizer but were unable to break through Mississippi College's defense. The Choctaws extended their lead in the 79th minute with a goal from Jayce Dotson, assisted by Alvaro Pena.

Mississippi College capped off their scoring in the 89th minute when Denis O. John netted his second goal of the day, sealing the 4-1 victory for the visitors.

The Trojans managed just seven shots, two of which were on target, while Mississippi College took 18 shots, with nine on goal. Adan Gonzales, who won GSC Goalkeeper of the Week honors this week, made five saves to keep his team in the game, but the Trojans were ultimately unable to match the Choctaws' offensive intensity.
