NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer team (4-6-2, 3-3-1 GSC) earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Lee University (3-4-4, 2-2-2 GSC) on Friday night. A late goal by
Phillip Collins, along with an outstanding performance by goalkeeper Adan Gonzales, secured the win in a closely contested Gulf South Conference matchup.
THE GAME
After a tight and scoreless match for most of the game, Trevecca found the breakthrough in the 83rd minute.
Chris Douglas led the counter attack where he found
Phillip Collins, who dribbled past the goalkeeper to an open goal, giving the Trojans a 1-0 lead that would prove to be the game-winner.
Goalkeeper Adan Gonzales was instrumental in keeping the Trojans in the game, recording seven crucial saves to keep Lee University off the scoresheet.
UP NEXT
Trevecca will continue Gulf South Conference play next week as they face Mississippi College (6-3-1, 4-2 GSC) on Friday, followed by a match against Delta State University (3-3-5, 2-2-2 GSC) on Sunday.
