THE SERIES

HOW IT HAPPENED
After the Trojans collected the match's first two points, they were quickly put into a hole by the Warhawks. Down 6-2, Trevecca clawed its way back to an 8-8 tie before kills from Josie Hille and Reese Payne gave the home side the lead which was not tested the rest of the set. Leading 18-15, the Trojans doubled their lead off three straight points at 21-15 and went on to win the opener, 25-19.

In the second, the Trojans gained early control, winning five of the first seven points. Down by two, the Warhawks strung together five straight points to take their largest lead of the game at 12-9 midway through. AUM led that lead until 14-14 before it took five of the next six points for a 19-15 advantage. Trevecca managed to tie it at 22-22 and pulled away with three straight points to win, 25-23.

The first three points of the third belonged to the Trojans who slowly saw their advantage dwindle at the 9-9 mark. After a 12-12 tie was snapped by an AUM kill, the Warhawks jumped out to as much as a six-point lead at 20-14. Trevecca trimmed the set to 20-18 with four straight points and even fended off cut the deficit to one, but could only fend off one set point, falling 25-23 in the third.

Despite the set win for the Warhawks, the momentum stayed with the Trojans in the early stages of the fourth. Trevecca jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead and did not look back. Leading 11-5, the Trojans rattled off the last 14 points and easily won the set and match, 25-5.
