Box Score NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer team (1-1-0) faced their second Gulf South foe in a row when they welcomed Union University (1-0-1) to the Hill. The Bulldogs returned the favor with a 2-1 win on the road after falling by the same margin at home last year to the Trojans.
Trevecca completely dominated on attempts with 25 shots, 12 on goal, and 17 corner kicks. Union had nine shots, five on goal, and a mere four corner kicks.
The Trojans and Bulldogs have played five times previously in the NCAA D2 era, the Bulldogs lead the series 3-1-1. Trevecca picked up its first win over the Bulldogs in the NCAA era last season, 2-1, in Jackson, Tenn.
Union scored first at 30:39 when Kenny Nitzsche sneaked a shot in the upper right side and the Bulldogs led 1-0 at intermission.
The visitors scored at 53:24, it was the game winner, on a Chris Grill shot he sent low and to the left side of the goal.
Nearly seven minutes later,
Connor Lundy scored his first goal of the year for the Trojans, pulling the Trojans to within a goal and raising the intensity of the remaining 29 minutes of play.
Max Titterington assisted on the goal, which entered the goal box in the upper left side.
Botond Nemeth collected 11 saves on Trevecca's 12 shots on goal. Trevecca's
Giuliano Palma, the Great Midwest Defender of the Week, had three saves while allowing two goals.

The Trojans open Great Midwest play on Saturday when they visit Ohio Dominican University (0-2). Kickoff with the Panthers is set for 10:00 AM (CT) in Columbus, Ohio.
