TIFFIN, Ohio - The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (6-11, 3-5 Great Midwest) lost, 3-1, on the road at Tiffin University (9-6, 4-3 Great Midwest), on Saturday at Gillmor Center on the Dragons campus.
 
After the Trojans won the first set, the Dragons won three straight for the win – 25-22, 17-25, 22-25, 14-25.  
 
The win splits the season series as the Trojans beat Tiffin, 3-1, in Nashville on Sept. 16. Tiffin leads the all-time series, 7-6.
  
HOW IT HAPPENED
Tiffin jumped ahead 5-3 in the first set, but TNU pulled ahead 8-6 is a tightly contested set early on. Tiffin tied the match at 9-9 then pulled back into the lead 12-10. With TU up 13-12, Trevecca surged ahead with a side out then five straight points on serve. The 6-0 run put the Trojans up 18-13. Tiffin closed it to one, 22-21, but TNU closed out the set 25-22.
 
The Dragons jumped out to a six-point lead, 10-4, to start the second set and extended their lead to as many as eight, 16-8, in a 25-17 set two victory to even the match 1-1.
 
Tiffin jumped out to an 8-3 lead in the set three, but Trevecca rallied to take a 16-14 lead with a 13-6 run. Tiffin countered with a 7-1 run to take a 21-17 lead. Trevecca closed the lead to one, 22-21, but Tiffin closed out the set 25-22 for a 2-1 lead in the match.
 
The Dragons never trailed in the fourth set and walked away with the set, 25-14, and the match.

TEAM REPORT
Tiffin hit .231 for the match with a .323 attack percentage in the fourth. Trevecca hit .250 in the first and .146 in the third and hit .131 for the match. TU had seven service aces and just two service errors while the Trojans had five service aces and 10 service errors.
 
TROJAN PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS
Maddie Wilds led Trevecca with 16 kills and a .205 attack percentage. She paired that with 16 digs and a double-double. Emma Titus had a double-double as well with 13 kills and 17 digs. Katie Crutchfield also had 17 digs.          
  
UP NEXT
TNU is at Kentucky Wesleyan College (2-11, 1-4 Great Midwest) on Wednesday before ending the week with a pair of home matches. First, Trevecca hosts Thomas More University (1-11, 0-4 Great Midwest) Friday (Oct. 6) at 6 PM in Trojan Fieldhouse. Cedarville University (8-5, 3-2 Great Midwest) suits up against the Trojans on the Hill at 1 PM on Saturday (Oct. 7).
